In my childhood home wallpaper covered just about every wall in our house. There was the rust colored paper with golden diamond accents that went just half way up the wall in our family room and the violet wallpaper in my own bedroom that had tiny bouquets of white crepe jasmine placed in tiny horizontal lines up and down the wall. There is no doubt that wallpaper is back and I love it! For those who haven't quite warmed to the idea or still believe that painting darker colors on your walls makes your room appear smaller or maybe you are just not quite ready to jump in with both feet to the new wallcovering fad the idea of placing a square of wallpaper on one focal wall framed in a lovely trim work is a brilliant compromise.
There are very few things that I love more than working outside in my yard and wouldn't it be magnificent to create something such as the above. The most recent and sporadic glimpses of spring tease my desire to go out and dig in the earth.

I have been commissioned to design and decorate the Jackson's new condo in Batanga, just outside of Manila. Last time we were there my mind raced with the possibilities of this blank canvas and Becky, too, was full of visions. The kitchen is to be completed renevated, a bathroom gutted and revamped, all the wall painted, new furniture, room dividers and dark teak beams put up on the vaulted ceilings.
Hanging pictures on bare walls can be intimidating and then there is the whole issue of where and how to arrange the pictures once one is brave enough to nail a whole in the wall.
There is the option of a
completely symmetrical arrangement; five pictures across, three down two on top of two on top of two. Another option is to scatter the frames in size and shape creating a random grouping. I figure that as long as your framed works are that of people you love, places you dream to be and art that inspires you can never go wrong.
